Gastro pos (waiter program):

The waiter service system has been designed as an additional module of the Gastro catering service program that has been sold by our company for several years. The Gastro program is a typical tool encompassing all aspects concerning the restaurant back. Combined with various types of cash-registers the system allows for settling all financial and organizational aspects of catering industry.
After we have made about 1500 installations in many countries in Europe of the Gastro program, we have reached the conclusion that cash registers have many disadvantages, which cannot be eliminated. Many of our customers expected us to create a computer tool that not only would encompass the restaurant's back, but also the whole of its activity.

The main disadvantage of cash registers is the limited number of key-pads on the keyboard. Although there have been efforts made by producers to enlarge their number, even in the best cash registers it is still impossible to select a particular dish through a single direct key-pad. Therefore there is always need for various sheets with article numbers which waiters look for and type on the cash registers. Observation of systems that are in use in the USA and Western Europe has led us to the conclusion that the use of the traditional cash registers has given place to the “touch screens”. Such systems allow for creating unlimited number of key-pads, because the screen may show a menu that presently is needed. “Touch screens” are a revolutionary idea as pressing on the direct keypads makes cashing, which as it is known, is the fastest and most convenient way. The programs used in the West are rather expensive and that is why few users from Poland have bought them so far.

Another disadvantage of the traditional cash registers is their rather “stiff way of working”, lack of compatibility with other cash registers and computers that may send and receive data in particular sessions. The computer system encompassing the whole restaurant is fully flexible enabling users to create most sophisticated hardware configurations and the program we are offering you can treat the whole computer network as an integrity having at the same time functions, which traditional cash registers have never got:

The price of a complete post with a touch screen is similar to the price of a traditional till with its equipment. It is because prices of computers on the world market have been declining.
